Walmart AMP In Arkansas Announces $13.9m Expansion
Walmart AMP 20|20’s operator Walton Arts Center announced Nov. 2 plans for a $13.9 million expansion project for the Rogers, Ark., amphitheatre and a five-year partnership with Live Nation.
The renovation of the currently 10,000-capacity shed will include: expansion of capacity by 1,000; tiered seating on its lawn; main entry plaza capacity; a covered plaza atop the lawn; a new box office with more windows; new outdoor plazas with new concession stands and 56 additional restroom stalls; and a new entrance on the north side of the venue.
The project is expected to be complete in seven months, starting in November 2019, and will not disrupt any concert scheduling.
“We created a master plan for the development of the Walmart AMP, something that would serve as a blueprint for what the venue can and should look like for the next 10 to 15 years,” said Peter Lane, president and CEO of Walton Arts Center. “We knew we wanted to capitalize on the elements that make our venue unique – providing concerts that you would expect to see in a larger market with the amenities of a boutique venue.”
The deal with Live Nation will see the promoting giant becoming a “preferred promoter” at the Walmart AMP over the next five years, starting with a Trevor Noah show in early 2019.
This year the shed hosted shows from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Odesza, Slayer, Halsey, Luke Bryan, Janet Jackson, Pentatonix and many more.
Walmart AMP (former Arkansas Music Pavilion) has been operated by Walton Arts Center since 2011.
