Muse is back in a big way, with a full world tour planned for 2019 to promote its forthcoming album, Simulation Theory.
The tour kicks off Feb. 22 at Houston’s Toyota Center and the first North American leg runs a bit under two months, wrapping in Boston at TD Garden April 10. There are only 17 markets planned in this leg but more are being promised.

Fans who have pre-ordered the album (due out Nov. 9) get access to a presale Nov. 13. Citi cardholders also get a presale beginning later on the same day. The general onsale begins Nov. 16 at 12 p.m.

The first European leg begins May 26 in Prague and runs two months, wrapping July 26 in Madrid.

One key element of the tour is an Enhanced Experience VIP package including a “mixed reality preshow party,” with several games inspired by the album, a premium ticket, an interactive photo experience and a special poster.

Muse sells plenty of tickets, as the group’s last major tour in 2017 was No. 140 on Pollstar’s 2017 Top 200 North American Tours. Some highlights from the run were grosses of $1.4 million at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney; $874,138 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif.; $1 million at Northwell Health At Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y.; and $813,195 at Budweiser Stage in Toronto.

Muse’s agent, Ken Fermaglich, recently talked to Pollstar about Muse’s ability to play to the full spectrum of rock audiences as well as metal-leaning and indie-leaning festivals.

“A band like Muse is an interesting case study because when you look at [their routing] you see they can play festivals like they did last year – Lollapalooza, Osheaga – that are more alternative-leaning, and then this year they are playing Bonnaroo and BottleRock,” Fermaglich said. “But they also did Carolina Rebellion in Charlotte, N.C., which is more of a rock/metal festival.”

Muse also has a few one-off shows planned, including Alt 92.3 – Not So Silent Night in Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
