Many may still be emerging from Thanksgiving’s tryptophan stupor, but Dick Clark Productions and ABC are already looking ahead to next month’s holiday festivities. ABC’s annual New Year’s Eve special will return for a 47th year in December, including a West Coast edition featuring a stacked pop lineup that includes Kelsea Ballerini, the Chainsmokers, Foster the People, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai, Charlie Puth, Macklemore, and Skylar Grey.
“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2019” marks Seacrest’s 13th year hosting the iconic program. Jenny McCarthy will report from Times Square, while Lucy Hale and Ciara will host concurrent celebrations in New Orleans and Hollywood, respectively.
“We’re thrilled that Ryan, Jenny, Ciara, and Lucy are back to help America usher in the new year, along with a stellar lineup of the year’s hottest musical artists,” Dick Clark Productions executive Mark Bracco said in a press release.
The show will air beginning at 8 p.m. ET New Year’s Eve and broadcast live from Times Square. ABC plans to announce more performers in the weeks ahead.
Notably absent from the lineup — at least, this initial version of it — is Mariah Carey. The diva made headlines after bungling her 2016 performance at the show, but recovered in her 2017 appearance. ]
This year’s iteration is the third installment since Chinese conglomerate and property developer Dalian Wanda Group acquired Dick Clark Productions for $1 billion in 2016, adding to an entertainment portfolio that also includes AMC Theatres, Legendary Entertainment, and a movie partnership with Sony Pictures.
