South by Southwest Music Festival announced its second round of showcase artists for its 2019 event on Wednesday. The artists will join those detailed last month for South by Southwest’s music portion, scheduled March 11 to 17.
Highlights from the globe- and genre-spanning list of artists include indie-rock stalwarts Deerhunter, rising Nigerian artist and Diplo signee Mr Eazi, and 2018 Mercury Prize nominees Nadine Shah and Novelist.
The artists announced Wednesday join a robust lineup that already featured Wyclef Jean, Amanda Palmer, Swervedriver, and Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, the new band of Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace.
Additionally, South by Southwest 2019 has booked talks by musicians including Palmer, Grace, Garbage’s Shirley Manson, and CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry.
Event organizers promise more performer and speaker announcements will follow in the coming weeks.
The music installment of South by Southwest’s 2018 iteration was quieter than some previous years. In a sign of the times, the biggest news revolved not around an artist but around a public scare: A bomb threat forced The Roots to cancel a concert.
