Britney Spears announced today her decision to put the anticipated “Britney : Domination” residency in Las Vegas, and other work commitments, on hiatus while she devotes time to family.
Britney’s father Jamie’s colon ruptured two months ago, according to a statement. He is now expected to make a full recovery after surgery.

“I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me,” Spears said in a statement.  “Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”

The “Domination” run was set to launch at

The new residency was a follow-up to Spears’ record-setting four-year “Piece of Me” residency at what is now Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood in Vegas. That run became a Vegas staple and got her the key to the city, ending in 2017 with more than 1 million tickets sold and $140 million grossed over 250 shows.

Spears previously told Pollstar one thing she appreciated about her residency was that it allowed time for family.

“The biggest pro to doing a residency is that it’s much easier on my kids,” Spears said. “My kids are my everything, so having a show in one place gives me more time with them. Residencies are also easier on myself and my team. It can get exhausting and can be disorienting when you travel every day – but that’s not to say that it’s not a ton of fun, too.”
