AJR announced a massive fall tour on Friday that will take the indie-pop trio to iconic venues including New York’s Radio City Music Hall and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Produced by Live Nation, the U.S. leg of the tour begins Sept. 20 at Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and concludes Nov. 22 at UPMC Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
In December, AJR will play a string of European dates in Poland, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Ireland and the U.K.
The upcoming tour represents a leap forward for AJR, after a year of strong touring in 2018. For instance, Radio City Music Hall holds more than twice as many fans as Terminal 5, where the band’s April 2018 headlining show sold 2,800 tickets and grossed $78,310, according to Pollstar box office data.
AJR will play the 6,000-capacity Anthem on Nov. 22, just over a year and a half after selling out the 2,000-capacity Fillmore Silver Spring, in D.C. suburb Silver Spring, Md., which grossed $38,180. They’ll make a similar leap in Boston, moving up from House of Blues Boston — where their sold-out May 2018 gig sold 2,425 tickets and netted $58,660 — to Agganis Arena, which typically holds between 4,500 and 6,000 for concerts.
AJR’s fall dates follow already-announced appearances at festivals including Bonnaroo and Firefly. The trio releases their third album, Neotheater, on April 26.
Tickets for AJR’s fall tour go on sale March 22. Find the U.S. dates below.
