André Rieu: Already Over 500,000 Tickets Sold In 2019

On the road of success
Dutch violinist and conductor André Rieu has already sold over half a million tickets in 2019.
Rieu came in at No. 6 on Pollstar’s Q1 Top 100 Tours chart with 197,094 tickets reported.
His 24th tour through Germany alone sold more than 100,000 tickets. Among the highest grossing concerts were the Jan. 24 performance at Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin (10,308 tickets sold, $831,400 grossed, according to Pollstar box office reports) and the Feb. 9 show at Munich’s Olympic Hall (9,302 tickets sold, $739,145 grossed).
Rieu’s seven concerts from March 13 to 31 at Lisbon’s Altice Arena sold in excess of 100,000 tickets as well, earning Rieu the title of most successful solo artist to ever perform at the venue. Rieu has four more concerts at the venue scheduled in November.
In April and May, Rieu will tour Eastern and Northern Europe, and tickets for his Romanian and Polish dates – 30,000 and 32,000 of them, respectively – are sold out, according to a statement from promoter André Rieu Productions.
 
In July, André Rieu will perform his traditional open-air concerts in his hometown Maastricht, the Netherlands. The 12-night concert series will see its millionth visitor since the start of the open airs in 2005.
In September, André Rieu will play in Colombia for the first time, before celebrating his 70th birthday on Oct. 1. Currently, over 60 Rieu concerts are on sale for 2019, with more to follow.

In 2017, the volume of sales from touring, CD & DVDs, merchandise and cinema broadcasts increased from €33 million ($37 million) to €46.7 million ($52.4 million).
2018 was the most successful year in André Rieu’s career, according to his publicist, with 700,000 tickets sold across 90 concerts in 21 countries. 
For more than 30 years, André Rieu has been touring on five continents with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, the biggest private orchestra in the world, capturing audiences with his signature mix of waltzes, film music, arias from opera and operetta, pop songs and traditional melodies.
