Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top announced an expansive 50th anniversary tour on Monday.
The string of dates kicks off Aug. 16 at Sunlight Supply Amphitheatre in Ridgefield, Wash., and concludes Oct. 20 at Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla. The 34-show tour will hit sheds and arenas throughout the United States and includes select dates with Cheap Trick and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
As ZZ Top nears its golden anniversary, the band remains a live force. The group has secured a spot on Pollstar‘s Year End Top 200 North American Tours chart each of the last four years, with a total North American gross of $37.7 million over that period.
Last year, ZZ Top appeared on the chart twice – under its own entry, with $6 million grossed, and alongside John Fogerty, with a $9 million gross for the pair’s co-headlining tour.
“It’s been five decades, and I think we’re starting to get pretty good at all this!” the band’s Billy Gibbons said in a statement. “We’re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in ’69. The beards, Frank’s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed. We’re keeping it that way.”
