Alabama Extends 50th Anniversary Tour

Alabama
– Alabama
Alabama’s 50th celebration continues with this week’s addition of more than two dozen North American arena and amphitheater dates.
“One of the most humbling things about this tour is that we are going all over North America playing some of our favorite arenas, cities and festivals with huge crowds showing up at our shows,” lead singer/rhythm guitarist Randy Owen says in a statement.
“Teddy, Jeff and I thank God every day when we walk on stage and share our songs and voices that He blessed us with.”

Since Owen and his cousins Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook formed the country band in Fort Payne, Ala., in 1969, the group has released more than 40 singles that hit No. 1 on the U.S. Country chart including “Mountain Music,” “Dixieland Delight,” “The Closer You Get” and “Can’t Keep a Good Man Down.” During the past five decades the band has won dozens of awards, between the CMAs, Grammys and ACMs, along with being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The band’s loyal fans have continued to fill venues as the band has remained a box office draw. In 2018, Alabama grossed $8.7 million, placing them on Pollstar’s Year End Top 200 North American Tours chart.
The 2019 routing includes appearances with The Charlie Daniels Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Beach Boys, John Anderson, Restless Heart, Exile, John Michael Montgomery, Scotty McCreery and Charlie Major on select dates.
“We are very fortunate to have made many friends over the last 50 years,” bassist/vocalist Teddy Gentry said. “On this tour, we decided to ask some of them to come along and play with us. We have the best of the best. It’s a lot of fun to hang out and watch our special guests every night.”
Lead guitarist/vocalist Jeff Cook added, “Randy, Teddy and I have been overwhelmed by the support the fans have given us and especially me since my Parkinson’s diagnosis. The only reason for this is because we want our music to live on, and we love our fans. Thank you so much.”
