Phantom Planet Signs With ICM Partners For Worldwide Representation
Nothing’s gonna stop them now! Not only is Phantom Planet back from its hiatus – but the band announced Friday that it has signed with ICM Partners for worldwide representation, promising more tour dates to come.
The alternative rock / pop rock band will be represented by a team of agents led by Mike Hayes and Brandon Zmigrocki. The group is managed by Brad Aarons at New Community Management/Roc Nation.
Phantom Planet thrilled fans in March when the band updated its cover photo on Facebook and shared an announcement for its appearance at Hop Jam Beer And Music Festival with the caption “Hiatus. Over.” – marking its first posts since 2013.
The group had announced an indefinite hiatus in 2008 and had since only played a few gigs in 2012.
This week Phantom Planet returned to the stage this week for a handful of shows in California, naturally. The band has released four studio albums but are probably best known for the single “California,” which was the theme song for the Fox TV series “The OC.”
After playing The Casbah in San Diego May 7, the band performs at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles Friday night. Saturday the guys will be at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana, Calif.
Hanson’s Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival May 19 in downtown Tulsa is free and open to the public.
On Tuesday released the tune “BALISONG,” marking the band’s first release in 11 years. The group is working on its fifth studio album at the famed Sound City Studio with producer Tony Berg, who was behind the band’s 2008 LP, Raise the Dead.
“Phantom Planet has one of the most dedicated fanbases and an incredible run over the course of their career,” ICM’s Mike Hayes said in a statement. Brandon Zmigrocki added, “This reunion and new music have been a decade in the making. We’re proud to be a part of this exciting new chapter and to welcome them to ICM family.”
Phantom Planet is celebrating the 25th anniversary since it formed in Los Angeles. The current lineup features vocalist-rhythm guitarist Alex Greenwald, lead guitarist Darren Robinson, bassist Sam Farrar, and drummer Jeff Conrad, who joined the band after the departure of founding member Jason Schwartzman in 2003.
Over the years Phantom Planet has toured with Maroon 5, Paramore, Sting, Little Steven’s Underground Garage, The Bravery, and Hoobastank.
Reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice for the band’s 2012 reunion gigs include two nights at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, Calif., June 13-14 that sold 1,000 tickets and grossed $15,000.
