Demi Lovato alerted her Instagram followers Saturday that Scooter Braun is her new manager, calling the signing a dream come true. The news seems to represent a reboot in her career after she canceled the end of her “Tell Me You Love Me Tour” last summer to focus on her recovery from substance abuse.
“GUYS!!!!!!! Dreams came true today for me. I officially have a NEW MANAGER!!! And not just any new manager but the one and only @scooterbraun!!!!” Lovato posted on Instagram May 11 to caption a photo of herself and Braun posing with an apparent management contract. “Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter with you Scooter!!! Thank you for believing in me and for being apart of this new journey. Let’s DO THIS!!!!!!”
Braun reposted the image, along with photos of the duo actually signing the papers and a snap of members of his SB Projects management team. He wrote, “Reposting this pic from @ddlovato. She is a special person and a special talent. I’m… we.. are honored. Welcome to the family Demi. @sb_projects”
Lovato has been candid with fans about her struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues, including releasing the single “Sober” last June admitting that she wasn’t sober anymore. The next month she was hospitalized for a rumored overdose.
She addressed the hospitalization with an Instagram post in August, which has since been deleted, saying, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”
The singer added, “I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.” (via ABC News Radio)
The “Tell Me You Love Me Tour” was supposed to play South America in November.
Reports submitted to Pollstar’s BoxOffice for Lovato’s 2018 tour include a June 29 show at Arena Birmingham that sold 5,483 tickets and grossed $372,264 (£279,803).
Lovato is booked worldwide by Creative Artists Agency.
She was previously managed by Philymack, whose head, Phil McIntyre was recently named Roc Nation’s President Of Management.
