He’s got the horses (and a powerhouse agency) in the back! Still riding the success of his crossover single “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X has signed with CAA.
The Atlanta rapper’s label is Columbia Records and he is managed by Adam Leber, Gee Roberson and Zach Kardisch at Maverick Management and David Jacobs at Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, P.C.
His first ever live show was at Stagecoach Festival with Billy Ray Cyrus in Indio, Calif., several weeks ago, and he has a few festival plays coming up this summer.
Lil Nas X has been a permanent fixture in the top echelon of the Elite 100 artists chart since “Old Town Road,” caught fire, sparking a conversation about race and gatekeeping in country music.
After a meteoric initial rise, “Old Town Road” was removed from Billboard’s country music charts, with the publication telling Rolling Stone: “Upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard’s country charts. When determining genres, a few factors are examined, but first and foremost is musical composition. While ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.”
Lil Nas X will continue to be managed by Adam Leber, Gee Roberson and Zach Kardisch at Maverick Management and David Jacobs at Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, P.C. His label is Columbia Records.
Lil Nas X was just announced for the 515 Alive festival in Des Moines, Iowa, Aug. 16-17, with Live Nation talent buyer Zack Chazin saying it is the artist’s “first announced festival appearance,” adding, “Cant believe we got that done.”
