Peter Murphy performs in Milan, Italy, on Nov. 22, 2018.
Peter Murphy announced an 11-show New York residency on Friday. From Aug. 2 to Aug. 18, the Godfather of Goth will perform 11 different programs at Manhattan club Le Poisson Rouge.
The first eight shows will feature full renditions of eight of Murphy’s nine studio albums, released between 1986 and 2014. The only album not to receive a live treatment will be 2004’s Shattered.
On Aug. 15, Murphy will perform “greatest hits” from his solo catalog, and the following night he’ll perform classics from his seminal ’80s band Bauhaus during “Bauhaus’ Mr Moonlight.” Murphy will close the run on Aug. 18 with “Tribute to David Bowie,” a set of music honoring the Thin White Duke.
Murphy staged a similar residency in March at San Francisco club The Chapel. During that stand, Murphy’s Bauhaus setlist included “Dark Entries,” “The Passion of Lovers” and more, and his Bowie setlist, skewed largely toward Bowie’s glam era, included “Suffragette City,” “Rebel Rebel” and “Ziggy Stardust.”
Murphy’s band for his Manhattan shows, which go on sale June 19 at 10 a.m., features guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite, drummer Marc Slutsky and bassist Emilio Zef China.
Murphy’s most recent New York show was a Feb. 14 gig at Terminal 5, where he sold 2,263 tickets and grossed $95,370.
In recent years, Murphy hasn’t shied away from the past. Bauhaus reunited in 1998 and 2005, and the musician staged a solo tour where he only played Bauhaus material in 2013.
