Cuffe & Taylor Takes Stock Of Theatre Division, Hires Senior Promoter In London
– What’s Love Got To Do With It?
The show celebrating the music of Tina Turner premiered at the Liverpool Empire in February
UK promoter Cuffe & Taylor’s theatre division launched last summer sold more than 180,000 tickets in the first 12 months.
During the first year, almost 400 shows have been booked across the UK – with artists including John Barrowman, Sarah Brightman and Lea Salonga, through to Britain’s Got Talent 2018 star Robert White and Royal wedding gospel sensation The Kingdom Choir.
In February, What’s Love Got To Do With It?, celebrating the music of Tina Turner premiered at the Liverpool Empire. Another show about the music of an icon, Whitney – Queen Of The Night, will tour across the UK in 2020, following a sold-out West End premiere at London’s Savoy Theatre in March, as well as confirming multiple tours internationally.
Upcoming projects include a new dance show in the West End, called Heartbeat Of Home, from the producers of Riverdance, which is heading to London’s Piccadilly Theatre in September.
Cuffe & Taylor’s theatre department is also developing a new show with the anonymous West End Producer for the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a UK tour with some of the UK’s biggest names in dance, and a variety of both comedy, musical and live music tours.
Speaking about his first year heading up Cuffe & Taylor’s theatre touring division, Hatton said: “We’re approaching 400 shows for our first year, and are still taking bookings in 2019, which is a great testament to how well these tours are doing – that venues are wanting to add us to their calendar at this stage in the year.
“We’ve got one of the most varied rosters out there; from comedians touring to small venues up and down the country, to tribute shows selling out in the West End, and multiple productions being staged at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the London Palladium.”
Working alongside Hatton is senior promoter Cheryl Nicholls, who said: “Cuffe & Taylor has been creating and promoting incredibly successful theatre tours, alongside huge outdoor concerts, for several years now, and it is exciting to see where we will go in the next year – with new projects constantly in discussion and development.
“Stepping into theatre production has long been the aim. We are producing and promoting shows for all ages and interests, and I can’t wait to bring our first residency to the West End with Heartbeat Of Home, while continuing to develop new and exciting productions into 2020 and beyond.”
