New York will say farewell to another venue when the PlayStation Theater closes its doors in December, wrapping with four shows by The Disco Biscuits.

The 2,150-capacity venue confirmed the news on its social media accounts with an announcement about The Disco Biscuit shows scheduled Dec. 27-28 and 30-31. A reason for the closure was not disclosed.
The announcement was posted online shortly after Variety published a report saying the venue was expected to close at the end of the year because its existing lease is up, quoting an unnamed source. Variety’s Jem Aswad notes that the opening of nearby Sony Hall “did not improve its commercial prospects.”
Pollstar reached out to AEG Presents partner The Bowery Presents, which exclusively promotes shows at the venue, for comment.
The PlayStation Theater, which was formerly known as  Best Buy Theater and Nokia Theatre Times Square, opened in September 2005.
Boxoffice reports submitted to Pollstar for the venue included Dance Gavin Dance, which sold 2,034 tickets and grossed $55, 935 on April 12 and Elevation Worship, which sold 2,086 tickets and grossed $69,581 on Oct. 12, 2018.
Tickets for the Disco Biscuits’ New Year’s Run go on sale Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. Previously announced artists on the calendar included Angels & Airwaves, Chase Rice, Craig Ferguson, Alessia Cara, and Scarypoolparty.
