UTA announced the signing of Yusuf / Cat Stevens for representation in all areas on Tuesday.
Since returning in 2006 with the release of An Other Cup, his first album in nearly three decades, the musician has released two more albums as Yusuf and one, 2017’s Grammy-nominated The Laughing Apple, as Yusuf / Cat Stevens.
The 71-year-old musician has also been recognized this decade with inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2014 and 2019, respectively.
“Most of my songs are to do with a journey, mainly because I was on that journey myself,” Yusuf said in his acceptance speech for the Songwriters Hall of Fame honor earlier this year. “That was to define my main contribution as a songwriter: the road became my home.”
Stevens has also received several awards for his humanitarian work, including the World Award (2003), the Man of Peace Award of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates (2004) and the Steiger Award (2015).
Recent Pollstar Boxoffice reports for Yusuf include a two-night stand at New York’s Beacon Theatre, which sold 5,474 tickets and grossed $1.15 million in September 2016, and a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre that sold 5,349 tickets and grossed $1.21 million the following month.
Yusuf will continue to be managed by Yoriyos Adamos at Catch Bull Management.
