Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion welcomed more than 120,000 visitors to 39 events at Stadtpark Open Air, the annual concert series, which has been taking place at Hamburg’s City Park for the past 45 years.
Throughout all those years, Karsten Jahnke, one of Germany’s last independent promoters, has been promoting the event. It’s not a given, seeing that the city of Hamburg issued a tender in May, opening the bid up to any promoter operating in the EU.
Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion won the bid with a concept that included a new gastronomic offer, physical alterations on site and a diversification of the program to include more than just concerts.
The 45th Stadtpark Open Air season attracted more than 120,000 visitors to 39 events in total at the 4,000 capacity space. Artists that performed in 2019 include Take That, Michael Patrick Kelly, Van Morrison, Lewis Capaldi and more.
New entertainment formats in 2019 included family shows, sing-along concerts, a poetry slam and the World of Movement fitness festival.
Ben Mitha, MD of Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion, said, “we’re equally relieved and pleased that our guests, artists and business partners embraced our new gastronomic concept, the physical alterations and programmatic expansion. We’re looking back on a very successful season.
“Special thanks go out to our long-time sponsor König Pilsener for their trust and successful cooperation.”
Karsten Jahnke Konzertdirektion already confirmed ten events for the upcoming open air season in Hamburg’s City Park, which launches in May 2020, including Jamie Cullum (May 20), Editors (June 22), Melissa Etheridge (July 5), Gregory Porter (July 17) and more.
