– Old Dominion
Old Dominion engages with its fans at their Allen County War Memorial Coliseum performance on May 2 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Old Dominion is headed for the Great White North in early 2020 with a full tour of Canada planned by Concerts West/AEG and Gold & Gold Productions.
The dates north of the U.S. border officially kick off with two nights at Niagara Falls, Ontario’s Fallsview Casino Resort Dec. 12-13. Those dates will be a special show, titled “An Evening with Old Dominion: The Band Behind The Curtain,” which will spotlight songs the band has written that other artists have recorded, and will share the history behind those shows.
The full tour features Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick as special guests and kicks off in Abbotsford, B.C., Feb. 7, running through various cities in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario. The full routing is pasted below.
Presales begin Sept. 10 and tickets go on sale to the general public Sept. 13.
Old Dominion is one of very few acts that has graced the cover of Pollstar multiple times, first as a Hotstar in 2016 and later as the subject of a cover feature in 2018.
The group played a “bucket list” show at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in September 2018 of which Holly Gleason wrote: “In a town where organic origin has been replaced by conveyor belt acts chasing the same six tropes (trucks, girls, beer, night, work, love [finding, having, losing]), Old Dominion took Nashville’s most sacred stage and reminded people what playing live and writing songs should really be about.”
More recently the band had to postpone a handful of dates for frontman Matthew Ramsey to recover from an injury.
Old Dominion was one of the key clients that came under the Paradigm umbrella after the agency’s acquisition of Dale Morris & Associates in November 2018. Nate Ritches, who joined the Paradigm roster in that deal, talked to Pollstar in March about OD’s growth, saying: “With Old Dominion, we were selling 500 to 1,000 tickets in some key markets they started building early and not in just a hometown or Nashville, before we had a record deal, due to SiriusXM’s early belief when the streaming platforms were really launching. That’s the most rewarding piece to all of this, being part of the artist development and grassroots approach. Old Dominion is a prime example of that and setting a foundation – you can go down as quick as you go up, foundation is key.
So now in this touring cycle, we’re starting to see it come full circle as we enter into the arena business and take these guys into a true arena act. And we’re not stopping there, dreaming as big as we can.”
This year Old Dominion has grossed more than $300,000 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (10,022 tickets); Bank of NH Pavilion in Gilford, N.H. (7,132 tickets); Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev. (5,762 tickets); Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. (6,908 tickets); and Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. (9,171 tickets).
