Scott Stapp Confirmed To Speak At Pollstar Live! In February
Scott Stapp is confirmed to speak at Pollstar Live! in a candid discussion, entitled “Scott Stapp: Back In The Game,” with Ray Waddell, president of Oak View Group Media & Conferences. The solo artist and former Creed frontman will share lessons learned as he rebuilt his life and career after battling addiction and depression, along with overcoming the backlash Creed faced following the band’s astronomical success in the late 1990s and early 2000’s.
Stapp is the first artist announced for the 2020 edition of Pollstar Live!, the world’s largest gathering of live entertainment professionals and the flagship event for Pollstar magazine. After relocating from downtown Los Angeles to the Beverly Hilton in 2019, the conference will return to the historic luxury hotel Feb. 4-6. The 2019 conference was attended by more than 2,000 music industry stakeholders, surpassing 2018’s record-setting year, which marked the first under Pollstar’s parent company, Oak View Group.
The annual conference features a variety of panels, keynotes and networking opportunities with the live music industry’s most influential and visionary promoters, producers, agents, managers, entrepreneurs and venue operators, as well as leaders in other sectors aligned with and impacting the touring business.
Highlights from 2019 included a conversation between Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Live Nation President/CEO Michael Rapino, the keynote Q&A “How To Build A Superstar” with rising R&B singer Khalid and manager Courtney Stewart, founder of Right Hand Music Group; a Q&A with funk icon George Clinton; and “So These Two Guys Walk Into A Stadium,” a conversation between Arthur Fogel, Live Nation Chairman of Global Music and President of Global Touring and Louis Messina, CEO of Messina Touring Group.
“Scott Stapp: Back In The Game” is sure to be another can’t-miss conversation. After hitting rock bottom, Scott credits his wife, Jacyln, and MusiCares for intervening as his life was in jeopardy. Now he’s been sober for five years and life is better than ever for the musician, with a commitment to recovery, healing, health and family – and the release of his first album in six years.
The Space Between The Shadows debuted in July 2019 in the Top Five and Top Ten on rock and album charts in the US and UK. The LP includes the singles “Purpose For Pain,” and “Name”
“Scott Stapp is one of rock’s all-time great vocalists, an extraordinary songwriter, and performer, both with Creed and as a solo artist, so we are thrilled to host him at Pollstar Live,” Waddell said. “Over the course of a fascinating life and career, Scott has learned many lessons and we look forward to him sharing his perspective on life, the music business, and reprioritizing what matters most.”
Stapp has a few tour dates lined up in Florida, Tennessee and Arizona in October, followed by a run of shows in Brazil and Mexico in November. Pollstar has 237 headline reports for Creed between 1999 and its hiatus that begin in 2012, with an average gross of $318,406 and 9,415 average tickets sold.
