AWAL, Kobalt’s label services arm, will showcase Millie Turner (UK), Joesef (UK), Yaeger (Sweden), as well as Icelandic artists Warmland and Jóipé x Króli during the 21st edition of Iceland Airwaves, Nov. 6-9 in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Joesef has already created some box office history on Pollstar, selling out the Mash House in Edinburgh, Scotland, May 17, grossing $2,348 with 225 ticket sold. He also sold out all 300 tickets at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, Scotland, too, grossing $2,052 on March 2. When announced his return for King Tut’s Summer Nights, Aug. 31, a second night was added.
His agent at Primary Talent, Peter Elliott, told Pollstar: “Joesef is one of the most exiting young talents I have come across in a long time. He writes big songs from the heart, and produces them with a DIY self-confidence and maturity that will strike a cord with audiences globally. He’s a special guy, creating special music. It’s very exiting to work with him.”
The artists will be flown in by Icelandair, which also offers international travel packages for visitors from the U.S., Canada and many European countries.

By partnering with Iceland Airwaves, AWAL adds live showcase opportunities to its range of services, which include marketing and release management, A&R, funding, playlist promotion, radio & PR, YouTube monetization, global distribution and access to real-time comprehensive music data and insights for artists, who retain ownership or control of their works.
Alison Donald, head of creative at Kobalt and AWAL, commented on the partnership, “As a festival that unites the international industry in an unparalleled setting, Iceland Airwaves provides an amazing opportunity for our growing global team and a number of AWAL artists to come together in Reykjavík and explore its vibrant music culture and beautiful landscape. Partnering with Icelandair is a great fit and I’m delighted for us to be working together.”

Donald will be interviewed in a fireside chat by Forbes senior contributor, Oisin Lunny, during the Airwaves pro daytime conference, to discuss the state of music and what the future holds for songwriters and artists in a rapidly changing music industry.

Will Larnach Jones, managing director for Iceland Airwaves, added, “Iceland Airwaves is excited for this great collaboration between Icelandair and AWAL. All three companies believe that music can change the world, and one another. Icelandair has helped fuel AWAL’s vision at Airwaves 2019, and we are looking forward to seeing these creative talents converge in Reykjavík this November.”
