The Infamous Stringdusters Bring The Jamgrass, Release Live Album

The Infamous Stringdusters celebrate the new year and the the release of Live From Covington County, the band’s 10th full length album, by bringing its Grammy Award-winning amalgam of bluegrass, rock and jazz to audiences to theaters across the country starting in Ashland, Ore., Jan 16.

Known not just as one of the top jamgrass bands but for as “an electrifying live act” by Rolling Stone Country, the Stringdusters are true road warriors with festival appearances just this year at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Borderland, Newport Folk Festival, WinterWonderGrass and venerable venues ranging from the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (a sellout with 1,005 tickets; $25,125 gross) and The Orange Peel in Asheville1,050 , N.C., (also a sellout with 1,050 sold, $25,256 grossed).

They’ve also opened for Phil Lesh and his Terrapin Family Band at Red Rocks Amphitheater in the last year.

The Infamous Stringdusters’ most recent studio album, Rise Sun, was released in April and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart, making it the band’s fourth career chart-topper.

“Our album was released right at the end of our spring tour, so most people haven’t seen us perform a lot of the songs from Rise Sun live,” dobro player Andy Hall tells Pollstar. “We’ll be heading into fall tour with a big batch of new material that most people haven’t heard, and I think that brings with a real excitement and anticipation for what to come. With each new tour we dive in deeper to what we can achieve at a live performance, and with all these new songs from Rise Sun it should be something special.”
