Chris Stapleton makes a stop at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Mich., Aug. 19.
Fresh off the announcement of his own “Concert For Kentucky” benefit at Kroger Field in Lexington April 25, Chris Stapleton has been announced as the first to headline the Texas Rangers’ brand-new Globe Life Field, with a concert also featuring Willie Nelson & Family, Jamey Johnson and Yola March 14.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. local time, with a Stapleton Fan Club presale and Citi presale beginning Oct. 29. The show is presented by Live Nation.
The baseball stadium is set to open for the 2020 baseball season for Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers, who had played at Globe Life Park since 1994.
It is the first headlining stadium show for Stapleton, a regular arena and amphitheater headliner, although he has played plenty of stadium stages before, opening for artists including Luke Bryan, Guns N’ Roses, Eagles, George Strait and others.
Pollstar’s boxoffice history shows Stapleton’s largest headlining appearances so far being two nights at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in 2017 (27,198 tickets), Hollywood Park Casino Amphitheatre in Illinois in 2018 (25,458 tickets), and two shows at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Ga., in 2017 (24,970).
Stapleton is wrapping up another North American tour leg with Brothers Osborne and Kendell Marvel that ends Nov. 2 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, after being on the road most of the summer already.
Stapleton is represented by WME Nashville, which also represents Eric Church who did his first stadium gig at Nissan Stadium May 25, moving a record-breaking 56,521 tickets and grossing $5.81 million.
