Country legend George Strait appears for the first time at No. 1 on LIVE75 on the strength of double-show stints at two U.S. arenas in late 2019. Grossing $11.9 million from more than 60,000 sold tickets in two markets, he reigns as both the HOT SHOT and HEAVY HITTER of the week.
His first date included in this tally was a Nov. 22-23 engagement at the newly opened Dickies Arena in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, built next to the Will Rogers Memorial Center. With $5.8 million in sales from 24,953 sold tickets, the King of Country was one of the first artists to play the new 14,000-seat venue during its first month of operation.
Then two weeks later, he made a return trip to Las Vegas for another set of shows at T-Mobile Arena, his third pair of concerts booked last year at the venue where he began an ongoing residency in 2016. His performances on Dec. 6-7 grossed $6.1 million from 35,668 sold seats. Strait’s appearances at the Vegas venue total 26 so far with more than $62.6 million earned from almost half-a-million tickets. He is set to return to T-Mobile Arena on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Scoring NOISE MAKER status is Indiana-based Straight No Chaser, jumping four positions to No. 37 based on box office counts from six concerts during the a cappella group’s “The Open Bar” tour that ran stateside during the fall. Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., the one arena among the six venues, welcomed a crowd of 6,213 on Dec. 23, while the best-attended theater was Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne, Ind., with 2,406 tickets moved on Dec. 10.
