Second-Year BeachLife Festival Bringing Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, Marley Celebration To SoCal
–
The BeachLife Festival for its second year has announced a lineup topped by Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, and Ziggy Marley & Stephen Marley’s Bob Marley Celebration, with UB40 feat. Ali Campbell and Astro, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, +Live+, Fitz and The Tantrums, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, and more May 1-3 at the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach near Santa Monica.
Along with the music, this year’s “only at BeachLife” experiences will include a Yacht Rock Brunch starring Ambrosia and Friends, a “SideStage” 50-seat sit-down restaurant on an extension of the headlining stage, with noted chef and restaurateur David LeFevre as culinary director, and a wine village, craft beer bar, and more.
Three-day passes are on sale now starting at $299.
Additional talent on this year’s lineup includes WAR, the Taylor Hawkins-fronted Chevy Metal performing songs of Queen, Save Ferris, Sugar Ray, Grace VanderWaal, G Love And Special Sauce, and others.
Last year’s BeachLife had a similarly curated lineup, headlined by Bob Weir & Wolf Bros., Willie Nelson, and Brian Wilson, and ’90s hitmakers including Sugar Ray, Everclear and Blues Traveler. The first-year event notably avoided many traffic and congestion problems often posed by beachside festivals in major cities, proving a comfortable experience for a somewhat older and more affluent festival crowd than most.
Talent buyer and festival co-organizer Adam Spriggs of Madison Entertainment last year told Pollstar the festival has plans to grow but remain comfortable and deliver the experience the locals are looking for.
“We don’t want to be a 30,000-40,000-cap festival, we want to be at 10,000, and cater to our community because we know what our community wants,” said Spriggs, who also books comedy for
Madison Entertainment.
