The Great Eastern: New Fest In Scotland’s Capital
Scotland-based promoter 432 Presents is launching a new one-day music festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, May 9. It’s the second festival launched by 432 Presents, following The Great Western Festival, which debuted in Glasgow, Scotland, in November last year.
Both festival focus on music discovery across multiple venues. The Great Eastern will host over 40 acts across a variety of unique spaces in the capital, including several rooms in Summerhall as well as The Queen’s Hall and King’s Hall.
Bristol trio Beak, featuring Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, is among the first batch of confirmed artists.
Joining them will be Glasgow electro-spiritual couple Free Love, and newly-London post-punks Warmduscher, who were forced to pull out of last year’s Great Western due to singer Clams Baker Jnr. breaking his arm.
U.S. multi-instrumentalist B.C. Camplight, Welsh indie-rock stormers Boy Azooga, Bella Union indie-pop troupe Penelope Isles, Edinburgh indie-folk acts Broken Records and Rachel Sermanni, Icelandic experimentalist JFDR, Glasgow post-punk crew Kaputt, as well as newcomers BABii, Swim School, Super Inuit, Quiche, Rory James, Kubitaru, and Hamish Hawk are confirmed as well.
42 artists in total will perform across six venues.
The Great Eastern is promoters by 432 Presents in association with Summerhall/Nothing Ever Happens Here and The Queen’s Hall.
