The team of Festicket has scanned its database to come up with the names of artists that played the most festivals in 2019.
According to Festicket data, Belgium DJ and producer Lost Frequencies topped the list as he performed at 49 festivals worldwide in 21 countries and on three continents.
Following one of his last festival performances, Lost Frequencies played a several headline shows in the U.S. in October, as well as in Europe in November.
He for instance sold out the Mezzanine in San Francisco, CA, selling 1,157 tickets for a gross of $29,210, or the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, where he sold all available 843 tickets and grossed $21,075.
The following European run included three FKP Scorpio promoted concerts in Germany, Nov. 28-30, which sold 1,400 tickets at Hamburg’s Docks, 1,405 at Berlin’s Astra Kulturhaus, and 1,600 at Carlswerk Victoria in Cologne, grossing $45,293, $45,455 and $51,764, respectively.
Coming up second in the DJ category is Charlotte de Witte, who has performed at 39 festivals in 2019, including a set on the hallowed Tomorrowland main stage.
In the non-electronic category, The 1975 turned out to be biggest festival performers of 2019. The band performed at 44 festivals across the world, which, as Festicket points out, averages one festival every eight days throughout the year.
The performances took place in 30 different countries, including Reading & Leeds in England, The Governor’s Ball in New York, NY, Mad Cool in Madrid, Spain, and Japan’s Summer Sonic festival.
Fontaines D.C. argent’ far behind with a total of 38 festival played in 2019.  A good chunk of those gigs was facilitated through ESNS’s European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP).
129 festivals now take part in ETEP. Each year, their promoters visit Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) in Groningen, Holland, check out as many of the 342 acts as they can and pledge to book their favorites for the upcoming festival season.
Lizzo performed at 29 festival in 2019, including Coachella, making full use of the momentum she gained from the release of her third album Cuz I Love You
Festicket co-founder Zack Sabban commented: “As more and more people invest in going to music festivals, whether that’s at home or abroad, we’ve seen them become an even greater source of income for artists. But it isn’t all about the upfront money.
“Festivals provide artists with a valuable platform to showcase themselves to potential fans who may then go on to buy a record or see them at their own headline shows. It’s therefore little wonder the artists in this report went above and beyond to hit up every festival stage they could in 2019.”
A Festicket rep told Pollstar that the data was gathered from Festicket’s database, which comprises 12,000-plus festival across the world.
