– Lesley Olenik
Vice President of Touring, Live Nation
When Lesley Olenik isn’t promoting some of the most groundbreaking female artists (i.e. Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Janelle Monáe) and male artists (Childish Gambino, Anderson .Paak) of modern times, she is putting in work for the advancement of women in the live industry, organizing events like the Women Executives Of Live Nation event in February and mentoring female colleagues like Isabella Kelly, founder of Kingdom of Mind and recipient of the Women Nation Fund.
Olenik credits her meaningful personal and professional relationships for her success, and said her biggest challenge has been striking a balance between her professional and family life. One approach she has taken in that regard is bringing the family on the road.
“I recently realized if I don’t take care of myself, I can’t take care of others,” Olenik said. “I’ve made it a priority to schedule time to work out, cook dinner for my family and be present with my kids when we’re together. I feel this is all extremely important in order for me to be my best self.”
She named her brother as role model and said she admires his professional success while also making time for his three children and wife, and working to improve himself.
The future of live [once business returns to some state of normalcy] should see more artist-curated festivals and younger artists partnering with promoters earlier in their career, she predicts. Her advice to younger generations of women? “Set big goals for yourself because anything is possible if you put it out into the universe. Don’t be afraid to take risks because even if you fall it’s a lesson learned along the way.”
