Bandsintown announced an expansion of its livestreaming programming on Monday.

Bandsintown announced a new expansion of its livestreaming programming Monday.

The live event discovery platform, which has become a hub for livestreaming during the coronavirus crisis, shared plans for Bandsintown LIVE to host themed programming five days a week, in addition to robust weekend content including “festivals, channel takeovers and other experiments.”

“We are fans first, and we know livestreaming has something valuable to offer music lovers,” Bandsintown managing partner Fabrice Sergent said. “There’s a striking intimacy to this format we think is here to stay. In a different way from live events, artists deeply connect with their fans. We are convinced that this will turn into new sources of income for such artists, helping them launch new music, sell merch or ticketed events.”

Weekday programming will air from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET (“or longer” the preliminary schedule teases), with an 8 p.m. ET rebroadcast, and the service shared bookings for its first week in its announcement.

Mondays will be Bandsintown Outskirts, with “a mix of both established and new country, alt-country, Americana and singer-songwriters”; today’s inaugural edition will feature Tyler Braden, Cat Clyde and Chris Knight.

Tuesdays will be Bandsintown Discovery, with rising artists from all genres, including Phil Good, La Lu, Lonr and Leven Kali this week, and Wednesdays will be Bandsintown Fusion, with “an eclectic mix of music from around the world” that will feature SoDown, Marvel Years, Kill Paris and Papadosio in its first edition.

On Thursdays, Bandsintown LIVE will host Bandsintown All The Vibes, featuring “meaningful artists from the underground club culture to mainstream EDM, DJ, Dance, Urban and Latin”; this week’s edition, billed as an ULTRA takeover, will include SAYMYNAME, Chris Malinchak and Sofi Tukker.

To conclude the work week, on Fridays, Bandsintown LIVE has lined up Bandsintown #MostLiked, which will “celebrate new music release day with artists playing Pop/Commercial, Rock/Indie Rock, K-Pop/J-Pop, Urban and Latin.” Artists booked for debut week include Echosmith, Scarypoolparty, Chloe Moriondo and Sub Urban.

All the programming will continue Bandsintown’s ongoing focus on supporting artists during this unprecedented crisis for the touring industry.

“By delivering a substantial new audience and adding a tip jar, Bandsintown LIVE gives artists a way to earn money while also expanding their fanbase, and fans a way to support their favorite artists,” Sergent said.

All money received will go to artists or charities of their choice.

“We immediately identified that artists are going to suffer a lot, as 80% of their revenue, if not all of their revenue, for some of them, is coming from live music,” Sergent told Pollstar in April.

The company partnered with Twitch in late March to provide performers a way to fast-track the verification process and more quickly monetize performances, and has hosted special livestreaming events already, such as the online electronic music festival net.werk.

“The developing artists, they face a tremendous challenge to not be able to tour in person, physically, but they also face a tremendous opportunity to shine and rise as livestream talents,” Sergent said. “We want to explore that. Times are tough, but it’s also during such times that creativity can emerge.”
