Billy Strings Announces Nine-Date ‘Streaming Strings 2020 Tour’ Playing (Empty) Nashville Venues
“Jam Grass” guitar virtuoso Billy Strings has announced a multi-platform, multi-venue “Streaming Strings 2020 Tour” taking the guitar whiz to empty Nashville mainstays for nine shows this July.
The novel approach sees the tour on multiple streaming platforms, with FANS, Nugs TV, Station INN TV and TourGigs taking part. Digital tickets go on sale June 16 at 12:00 pm EDT and can be purchased at billystrings.com.
The 27-year-old has been noted as both a musical prodigy and touring force, quickly propelling him from plum spots opening for jammy bluegrass acts to his own theater headlining gigs, such as sellouts at the Ryman Auditorium, moving 2,362 tickets and grossing $72,041.
Before the pandemic hit, tickets were mostly gone for the bulk of his announced 2020 touring, including three nights at the 1,150-capacity Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colo., and two nights at New Orleans’ 1,200-capacity Civic Theatre.
It’s therefore no surprise the dedicated live performer would want to continue the momentum.
“These fans, they come from everywhere,” Billy Strings told Pollstar for a February feature story. “They get on airplanes and come across the country to see us play. That is beautiful and amazing to me, and there’s an amazing community. These people work hard at their jobs, and they’re choosing to spend their money to travel and come see us play? What an honor.”

The announcement notes the dates are subject to change depending on COVID-19 guidelines, although “Contingency plans (and dates) are in place three times over. For safety’s sake, all necessary precautions will be taken. All national, state, and local guidelines will be followed to the letter.” Minimal staff and crew will take part to help produce the show.
A portion of all proceeds will be equally divided and donated to charity partners including the ACLU, Backline, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
