– Splendour In The Gras
One of Australia’s largest festivals, Splendour In The Grass, will be a no-show in 2020 for its 50,000 patrons. Promoter Secret Sounds, which initially moved it from its traditional July to October, will now stage the event July 23-25 next year.
Co-Producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said, “We have been monitoring the situation closely for the past few months and while Australia is now moving into the recovery phase, there is no timeline yet around the opening of international borders”.
They are in the process of rebooking as many of the 2020 bill. These included Tyler The Creator, The Strokes, Flume, Midnight Oil’s Marrakesh Project, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Violent Soho.
The New Zealand debut of Europe’s Snowboxx, to be delivered with Rhythm & Alps between Sept. 8 and 15 in 900 hectares of mountainous terrain in Cardrona, has been pushed back a year. Promoters said concern about attendance by overseas acts and ticket buyers lead the decision “as we needed this to be in place.” A new date has not yet been announced.
