Alabama Announces Details For Livestream Performance – Band’s Only Concert Of 2020
Rick Diamond – Alabama
Alabama fans who’ve been missing seeing the country band do its thing on stage are in for a treat. The group has announced a free livestream concert set for Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. CT.
The show is the first confirmed performance for Camping World’s free virtual weekly concert series, which will run Sept. 15 through Nov. 24 on select Tuesdays, hosted by country music radio personality Shawn Parr.
An announcement notes Tuesday’s livestream will be “Alabama’s first and only concert performance in 2020.” Like so many other artists, Alabama was forced to push back its 2020 plans to 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Following a Feb. 22 appearance at “Volunteer Jam: A Musical Salute To Charlie Daniels” at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Alabama has rescheduled headline dates booked March through August. Earlier this month the band revealed that Martina McBride would be joining Alabama when it returns to Bridgestone Arena July 2-3.
The band has been prepping for the livestream, as evidenced by a Sept. 8 post on Twitter saying, “ Keeping safe while rehearsing with our band again…feels good.”
“We are happy that we get to play our music live where you can watch for free in the safety of your home, camper or motorhome,” Alabama frontman Randy Owen said in a statement. “Thanks to our friends at Camping World for making this possible. We hope and pray that everyone is staying healthy and following the safety rules for the pandemic. The streaming of our live show allows us to come to you in a safe way to once again enjoy live music!”
Bassist/vocalist Teddy Gentry added, “One thing Randy, Jeff and I have in common with Camping World is we have been on a camping trip for the last 50 plus years… in our camper buses visiting our fans in cities across North America. We also live out in the country on top of a mountain and spend time in the woods and on the farm every day. We are thrilled to play this special concert for Camping World and our fans around the world.”
