To mark what would have been Tom Petty’s 70th birthday, a star-studded group of his friends and fans will be taking part in a five-hour celebration of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, with the event raising awareness for NIVA and its Save Our Stages campaign, along with Arts In Medicine, Digitunity and MusiCares.  
The wide-ranging lineup – boasting Stevie Nicks, Chris Stapleton, Post Malone, Foo Fighters, The Killers, Norah Jones, The Raconteurs, Jason Isbell and many more – shows what a massive influence Petty had on artists across the genres. The event, which will feature performances, testimonials and tributes, includes a special performance from Petty’s former Heartbreakers bandmates guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench.
Tom Petty’s 70th Birthday Bash is set for Friday, Oct. 23, with the virtual festivities beginning with an audio broadcast on SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio from 4:30 to 7 p.m. E.T., hosted by journalist and SiriusXM host David Fricke, Tom Petty Radio producer Mark Felsot, and Tom Petty Birthday Bash co-organizers Jason and Sarah Hedges. Jason Hedges is also the frontman of the Tom Petty and the Heartherbreakers tribute band Heavy Petty, according to the Gainesville Sun.
The lineup includes: Caamp, Dawes, Grouplove, Jason Isbell, The Killers, Kurt Vile, The Raconteurs, Resynator feat. Grace Potter, Starcrawler with Mike Campbell, Larkin Poe with Steve Ferrone, Low Cut Connie, Andrew Leahey and The Homestead, Arts In Medicine Hospital Band, Edan Archer, Emma Swift, Hannah Harber, Hannah Wicklund, Have Gun Will Travel, Hedges, Jake Thistle, Jeff Slate’s Weekend Wilburys, Johnathan Coody, Michigan Rattlers, Miss Tess, Mr. Cool, Sunkat, The High Divers, and Tristen Orphans.
Livestream performances will be shown from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET via Amazon Music’s Twitch Channel and TomPetty.com, with the audio simulcast on SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio.

An announcement released on Tuesday (Petty’s birthday) notes that the event is the first time the Petty estate is working with fans and the music community to pay tribute to the singer/songwriter.

Petty passed away unexpectedly in October 2017 shortly after he and the Heartbreakers wrapped a 40th anniversary tour that grossed $64.7 million Worldwide according to Pollstar’s 2017 Year-End Top Tours chart.
Petty and his team were honored at the Pollstar Awards in February 2018, with Major Tour of the Year and Rock Tour of the Year going to Petty & The Heartbreakers and Tony Dimitriades being awarded Personal Manager of the Year.
