SIX60 has announced plans to play a show for 50,000 attendees at Eden Park – the home of New Zealand’s iconic rugby team, the All-Blacks – in Auckland on April 24, billing it as “The World’s Largest Concert In Over A Year.” Tickets are on sale now.

The claim is bold but follows on a recent Pollstar cover feature on the band, which detailed how the New Zealand band sold out six reduced-capacity stadium shows in the island nation earlier this year, making it the biggest current touring act in the world. So far this year they have logged approximately 125,000 tickets.

Eden Park was greenlit to host six concerts a year in January and Six60 said at the time that the band was determined it should be the first music act there.

“It’s no secret that SIX60 have wanted to play Eden Park for some time now. We always felt that it was important a kiwi band should play the first show at our national stadium,” Matiu Walters, lead singer of SIX60 said in a statement. “Because of the hard work that New Zealand has done as a community we’re in the privileged position to be able to perform to an audience of this size. It’s a great reward, we’re stoked that it’s become a reality and it’s a real honour to bring our show to the garden of Eden. We can’t wait.”

SIX60’s previous shows also marked the first concert livestreamed onto TikTok.
