The Dutch DJ and producer became the first artist to break the $1 million barrier for a primary sale on blockchain art network SuperRare.

Dutch DJ and producer Don Diablo sold his concert film Destination Hexagonia  for 600 ETH, or $1,381,074. This makes Don Diablo the first artist to break the $1 million barrier for a primary sale on blockchain art network SuperRare.

Destination Hexagonia is the fifth most valuable digital art piece sold so far, according to cryptoart.io.

The only copy of the concert film was sold on a hard drive encased in a unique hand-crafted box. The buyer carries the user name “Deckchair,” who reportedly hit the buy button four minutes into the sale.

The sci-fi inspired full-length concert film is Don Diablo’s second successful NFT sale. In March, he sold Genesis, a project comprising the only version of one his self-described magnum opus, as well a hologram cabinet displaying a hologram of his very first synthesizer. “Genesis” went for $200,000.

Don Diablo will put some of the profits into his Hexagon Foundation, which aims at assisting up-and-coming artists with getting their works minted as NFT.
