Chance The Rapper’s “Magnificent Coloring World” concert film will be screening at AMC River East 21 in Chicago this weekend ahead of its summer release. The movie will be screened exclusively at AMC Theatres this summer, marking the first time an artist has independently distributed a film through AMC Theatres.
Tickets to the Chicago shows are on sale at box offices on May 12 at 6 p.m. local time.
“Seeing movies together on the big screen is an essential part of summertime and something I deeply missed over the last year, so I am extremely excited and honored to partner with AMC to safely bring fans back to the theater,” Chance The Rapper said in a statement.
The “Magnificent Coloring World,” film documents a 2017 concert after Chance won the GRAMMY for Best Rap Album for his Magnificent Coloring Book mixtape. The film was created under Chance’s House of Kicks company.
Chance was scheduled to take on a massive arena tour in 2019 to coincide with the release of his album, The Big Day, but that tour was pushed back so the artist could spend time with his wife and newborn daughter.
Chance is scheduled to perform at Summerfest in Milwaukee this year, Sept. 3 at American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
