A statement from longtime Michael Bublé promoter Beaver Productions says the popular crooner is postponing 10 of his US tour dates that were scheduled between Aug. 13 and Aug. 28, with new dates already announced for October.

The announcement says the postponement is due to Buble’s concern with the “rising number of Coronavirus infections that continue to sweep America led him to this decision.”
“I do not want to put my fans at risk, nor my band and crew, by putting them in a situation that could possibly affect their health and therefore their friends and family,” Bublé says in the statement.  “It is better for me to reschedule these shows to a time when all of us are confident that we can relax and enjoy the show”.
The announcement says all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows and that the remaining tour dates remain as scheduled. He has arena dates into November, including shows in Mexico and South America, along with UK dates next summer.
With COVID cases rising nationwide and headlines of an apparently more contagious Delta variant, the concert industry has scrambled to put in contingency plans for major tours announced for this year, with agents telling Pollstar that multiple dates are in place for many major tours in case this very thing happens.  Other shows have been canceled with artists or members of their team test positive, like with Fall Out Boy missing at least two dates of the Hella Mega Tour featuring Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer.   Just yesterday, Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut announced on show day that the night’s Dustin Lynch show was canceled “Due to a case of illness in the touring party, and out of an abundance of caution.”
It’s unclear if indoor shows are more likely to be postponed, with changing restrictions and information regarding vaccine adoption and effectiveness in different settings.
The situation further adds to an already chaotic 2021 calendar, with a full season of touring crammed into late summer and fall and many artists and tours wanting to perform during the warm months this year. It also continues the trend of “these unprecedented times” as, last year saw all tours canceled and rescheduled (some multiple times), while this year has seen a wave of announcements and, now, sporadic postponements or cancellations.
