Jazmyn Griffin has had a few full circle moments in her career but one that stands out is helping book former first lady Michelle Obama’s February 2019 “Becoming” book tour stop at Frank Erwin Center, an arena located on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Just a year earlier Griffin graduated from the university.

“When Live Nation touring first sent a memo to Amy [Corbin]’s desk I definitely internally freaked out because Michelle Obama is such an icon, of course. Everyone’s first lady. To have a hand in helping make the production come to life was very special,” Griffin says of the show that sold 11,318 tickets and grossed $1,552,974. 

After getting her first taste of the music industry doing music journalism in high school, Griffin started her journey at C3 Presents as a concerts marketing intern in August 2017.

“When I started as an intern I sat outside of [promoter] Huston Powell’s office, which gave me a Festival Booking 101 course; to this day, hearing him echo down the hall I pick up tips on how to best slot artists,” Griffin says. “Hearing him put together a festival lineup and how passionate he is inspired me to want to get into talent buying.”

In April 2018 Griffin became the Executive Assistant to Amy Corbin and in May 2021 she was promoted to talent buyer. 

“Amy Corbin is my rock and has taught me almost everything I know, especially how to have difficult conversations,” says Griffin, who books shows at Antone’s, The Parish, Scoot Inn and interim for ACL Live, Bass Concert Hall, and Paramount Theatre, as well as assisting Corbin and Margaret Galton with their bookings on ACL and some other fests. 

Her mentors also include Galton, Sophie Lobl, Bobby Clay, Kristyn Ciani, Joe Howard, Sarah McGoldrick, Grace Gibson, Warda Baig, Kevin Shivers and her “inspiring parents.” And C3 co-founder Charles Attal, who Griffin says “keeps me sharp and reminds me to keep an eye out for innovation.”

Griffin adds, “I wouldn’t be here today without everyone that I named. … I’m eternally grateful for all of those people and the people who will influence me who I haven’t even met yet.”
