The String Cheese Incident has paused its North American tour, citing “the desire to keep everyone safe during this current rise in cases of COVID.” This week’s announcement came four days after the Colorado-based progressive bluegrass / jam band revealed that one of its own band members had tested positive for COVID-19.

TSCI played a run of dates in July – including an appearance at Peach Music Festival in Scranton, Pa., and three nights at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. – and was set to return to the road with two nights at the Iroquois Amphitheatre in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 13-14.
The day before the first show the group posted a message on its website and socials saying, “Unfortunately, despite all being vaccinated, one of the band members has tested positive for COVID. Thus, we are in the unfortunate position to have to cancel the first few shows of the tour while he recovers to full health. Tickets for Louisville & Columbus will automatically be refunded via point of purchase.”
The cancellation was followed by news Aug. 13 that indoors shows at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville were being called off “out of an abundance of caution” and gigs at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington, N.C., were being moved to Aug. 23-24.

And now Wilmington has been pushed back to April 2022, along with shows in Asheville, N.C., and Wilmington, N.C.

“String Cheese friends and family, due to the desire to keep everyone safe during this current rise in cases of COVID the band has come to the decision to reschedule our upcoming Charlottesville, Asheville and Wilmington shows and unfortunately cancel our St. Louis and Backwoods Festival shows,” the band said in a statement Aug. 16. “Check the SCI website for more details on the rescheduled dates. The decision was not an easy one, but we feel it is the most responsible given our current situation. We look forward to our next chance to share a magical, musical experience with you.

“Lots of love and best wishes,
The String Cheese Incident.”
