Paradise Artists Agent And Former Chubby Checker Manager Charlie Davis Passes, Aged 68

Longtime Paradise Artists agent Charlie Davis died unexpectedly Aug. 25 at the age of 68 in Auburn, Pa., with a statement from the agency saying he will be dearly missed.
Davis’ music industry career dates back to his early 20s, during which he was a road manager for Peter Frampton during the “Frampton Comes Alive!” tour, after which he became Chubby Checker’s manager for more than 30 years.
Davis joined Paradise Artists in 1996, where he worked until his passing, and worked with artists including Bad Company, REO Speedwagon, Foghat, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Steppenwolf, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Weird Al Yankovic, Foreigner’s Lou Gramm, ASIA, Tommy James & The Shondells, Chuck Negron from Three Dog Night, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Bobby Rydell, and many more.
He also served on the IEBA Board of Directors.
Paradise Artists owner Howie Silverman says in the statement: “Charlie Davis was one-of-a-kind. He was universally loved by everyone in the industry and was a dear, dear friend and family member for all of us at Paradise. It is an understatement to say that he will be dearly missed.”
Davis is survived by his wife, Cheryl Mahoney-Davis, stepdaughter Heather Philips and granddaughters Shannon and Sonia Philips.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requests donations in Davis’ memory to the Schuylkill Haven School District Music Department located at 501 East Main Street, Schuylkill Haven, PA, 17972.
A viewing is scheduled for Monday evening, Aug. 30, 2021, at the Dutcavich Funeral Home in Minersville, Pa., with the service to follow Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021.
