George Strait, Willie Nelson To Christen Austin’s Moody Center

RARE APPEARANCE TOGETHER SET FOR GRAND OPENING OF ARENA APRIL 29

Coming on the heels of a historic and record-breaking Austin City Limits Music Festival, George Strait will return to the city for the inauguration of Moody Center on April 29.

“Strait From Moody Center” Presented by Bud Light will be a Texas-size grand opening featuring Strait with special guests Willie Nelson & Family and Randy Rogers Band.

Jeff Nickler, general manager of Moody Center, said in a statement, “While planning our grand opening celebration, we knew we had an obligation to pay homage to the Lone Star State. George, Willie, and Randy are all Texas natives who have built legendary careers while having an unbelievable impact on the country music industry. It doesn’t get any bigger than this.”

The event will offer fans the opportunity to see icons Strait and Nelson share a stage for only the second time in their careers. In addition to being a part of the new 15,000-seat venue’s debut, the crowd will also be tipping their hat to Nelson, who turns 89 the night of the show.

“I’m so glad I’ll get to ‘sing one with Willie’ and I can’t think of a better place to do it than Austin, Texas,” Strait said. “Willie is an incredible musician and an even better person, so I know this will be a great night together along with our friends from Randy Rogers Band.”

VIP packages and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. CT Oct. 22. American Express card members can buy tickets before the general public beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. Oct. 21. Fans can also sign up for the Moody Center newsletter between now and Oct. 18 to receive venue presale access from 10 a.m. Oct. 20 to 10 p.m.  Oct. 21.

Moody Center’s Concert Club Members will have an opportunity to buy tickets in designated reserved areas of Moody Center.
