‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Announces Sprawling 133-Date 2022 Tour

“Weird Al” Yankovic announced his return to the road Friday by way of the 133-date “The Unfortunate Return Of The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent Ill-Advised Vanity Tour,” which will run from April to October 2022.

Yankovic will kick things off on April 26 at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., before hitting scores of theaters, amphitheaters and performing arts centers across North America. Just a few of his noteworthy stops include Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium (May 29), Las Vegas’ Venetian Theatre (June 8, 10-11), Seattle’s Moore Theatre (June 28-29), Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall (August 1-2) and Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center (Oct. 19).

The tour concludes at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Oct. 29, Yankovic’s first-ever performance at the esteemed venue.

Notably, the tour won’t be the costume-laden, parody-filled show that some Yankovic fans may be accustomed to.

“This is a scaled-down tour with limited production (no costumes, props, or video screens) in smaller theatres and more intimate settings, and Al’s setlist will be comprised almost entirely of his original (non-parody) songs,” a note on Yankovic’s website reads.

“I’ve loved doing every single incarnation of my live show, but honestly the Vanity Tour is the most fun I’ve ever had on stage… so I’ve been dying to get back out there and torture everybody with it once again!” Yankovic said in a statement.

As its title alludes to, this tour revives the concept of “The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour,” a 77-show run that Yankovic staged in 2018. Comic Emo Phillips opened all dates of that tour, and will once again serve as Yankovic’s support in 2022.

Highlights from Yankovic’s “Vanity” tour included two-night runs at Los Angeles’ Theatre at Ace Hotel and Boston’s Wilbur, which grossed $206,756 and $151,730, respectively.

Yankovic returned to his more eye-popping style of touring in 2019 with the “Strings Attached Tour,” albeit with a symphony orchestra in tow. That run landed Yankovic at No. 199 on Pollstar’s year-end North American touring chart with a gross of $4.2 million. Highlights included a three-night run at Seattle’s Paramount Theater that grossed $482,234 and a sold-out gig at Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va., on July 16, 2019, that moved 6,947 tickets and grossed $390,815.
