ILMC Moves To April In Face Of Omicron
– ILMC 34’s theme reads Brave New World.
The conference promises “an epic adventure to explore uncharted territory and new frontiers.”
ILMC 34 will move from its original dates in early March to April 26-29, in light of the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Omicron variant.
The rising number of Omicron cases around the world has led to various new travel and national restrictions, which ILMC’s organizers hope will be “relatively short lived.” They still decided to move the conference back by a few weeks t ensure that as many members can take part in person as possible.
ILMC usually attracts some 1,200 of the world’s top live music professionals from over 40 countries.
The new dates also mean that ILMC 34 will take place in its old home, the Royal Garden Hotel on the edge of London’s Hyde Park, which will be reopening in early April following an extensive refurbishment. This year’s Arthur Awards, which take place as part of ILMC’s “Great Indoors” Gala Dinner, will move to Thursday, April 28. Hosted by CAA’s Emma Banks, the “live music industry’s Oscar-equivalents” remain at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel.
The Green Events & Innovations conference will take place within the main conference programme on Friday, April 29, and the ILMC Production Meeting (IPM) taking place on Tuesday 26 April.
– Due to the new dates, ILMC is able to return to its longstanding home:
The Royal Garden Hotel.
ILMC head Greg Parmley said: “We’re clearly still living in unusual times, but by delaying ILMC slightly, we can ensure that the world’s top live music and entertainment professionals are able to unite in person, and that this year’s edition of the conference is as packed and productive as ever.”
The move is supported by all of ILMC’s key partners and sponsors, including Live Nation, Ticketmaster, DEAG and more.
John Reid, president, Live Nation EMEA, said: “Live Nation are proud to sponsor ILMC and we look forward to seeing everyone on the conference’s new 2022 dates in late April.”
Detlef Kornett, executive board member, CMO & international business affairs at DEAG said: “This move at this time is the right one, and will ensure this year’s ILMC is a fantastic edition. All at DEAG are looking forward to seeing everyone in-person in late April.”
Andrew Parsons, MD at Ticketmaster UK said: “As a long-standing partner of ILMC, we are really looking forward to the industry getting back together in person at the end of April.”
