Katy Perry scores the No. 1 ranking on the Artist Power Index (APX) chart based on the first box-office results reported from her “Play” concert residency at The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas. She launched the production on Dec. 29 and drew a total of 31,933 fans to the new 5,000-seat Las Vegas performance venue for its first eight shows through Jan. 15.
Ticket sales from her January performances that fall during the past 30 days give her a Live rank of 82 on APX along with Streaming and Airplay rankings that fall well within the top 50 along with a Social ranking just over that mark.
2022 has already been a jam-packed year for the pop superstar who, along with her residency, also made headlines on Jan. 10 when she debuted a new video “When I’m Gone” with Alesso during halftime of the College Football Playoff National Championship, a first for the ESPN network during a live broadcast. She is also rumored to have more new music planned for 2022 including a potential dance-pop project with Zedd. And, another eight performances of “Play” are scheduled at Resorts World for March followed by more dates from May through August.
Billie Eilish debuts on APX this week, landing at No. 2 with strong showings among the chart’s four qualifying metrics including a Live rank of 21 following the launch of her long-anticipated “Happier Than Ever” tour that kicked off in New Orleans on Feb. 3. Yet, the newly announced Academy Award nominee, along with Finneas, for Best Original Song for “No Time to Die” scores higher with her Social ranking that is the sixth-highest in the category.
