Third Eye Blind Announces ‘Summer Gods: 25 Years in the Blind’ Tour With Taking Back Sunday

Although today is Valentine’s Day, the members of Third Eye Blind have summer on their mind. Stephen Jenkins and company have announced dates for “Summer Gods: 25 Years in the Blind,” celebrating a quarter century of the alternative rock band. The June-August tour features Taking Back Sunday and special guest Hockey Dad.
The 31-date U.S. road trip, which is concentrated in amphitheaters across the States, kicks off June 22 at Edgefield in Troutdale, Ore. Stops on the routing include Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo.; XFINITY Center in Mansfield, Mass.; Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.; Huntington Bank Pavilion in Chicago; White Oak Music Hall in Houston and Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The last show in Aug. 13 at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, Calif.
“Twenty-five years of Third Eye Blind finds us feeling glorious as if everything is coming into deeper focus,” Jenkins said in a statement. “It’s not lost on us that this is a miracle, and that we are in it because of the new fans that keep discovering us and the people who, over the years, have made our music part of their culture.”
He adds, “The Summer Gods tour always means to us outdoors in warm nights, music and collective joy. In that spirit, it is a treat to make it a whole day of music. We have been wanting to tour with Taking Back Sunday for several years now and Hockey Dad is essential listening on all of our playlists. It’s serendipitous that they will be able to join on the Third Eye Blind’s 25th anniversary. Twenty-five years prompts us to take stock of ourselves, so everyone should expect a comprehensive set list with all of the songs that meant the most to our fans from the last 25 years as well as songs that are inspiring us now.”
The stage design for the tour is inspired by a visit Jenkins made to the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale. An announcement from the band notes that “the Consortium installation, with its soaring steel and tree branches, evoked something aspirational and analog that is the vital core of Third Eye Blind’s music.”
Fans can sign up for Third Eye Blind’s newsletter at http://ThirdEyeBlind.com to receive a presale code for a ticket presale that begins Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. local time. The general onsale starts Friday, Feb. 18.
Proceeds from each ticket will go toward the restoration of the Palos Verdes Kelp Forest called the Blind Reef via SeaTrees, a project of Sustainable Surf. Fans will also have the chance to “buy” their own square foot of the Blind Reef. Other ways to show support include beach clean ups, limited edition merchandise and meet and greets for donations toward the completion of the Blind Reef.
Making touring more sustainable and protecting habitat for marine life are causes near to Jenkins’ heart. As a press release points out, Jenkins “is an avid surfer and studied marine biology in college, working to restore kelp reefs at the age of 18.”

“In the early days of Taking Back Sunday, Adam and I used to drive around in his old Honda listening to Third Eye Blind’s second album, Blue; windows down, smoking cigarettes and singing along,” Taking Back Sunday’s John Nolan said in a statement. “If someone had told us back then that one day we’d tour together, it would’ve blown our minds. We’re so excited to be out with Third Eye Blind this summer, singing our songs and singing along with theirs.”
