Promoters announced a second festival in the Spanish capital Madrid next year.

Primavera Sound has been expanding a lot, most recently into South America. Now, promoters have added a second Spanish event in the country’s capital Madrid, June 8-10, 2023.

While all the Primavera Sound festivals launched outside of Spain are licensing deals with established promoters on site, the Madrid edition will be realized by the core promoter team at Primavera Sound SL.
In Madrid, the festival’s weekend program will be held at the well-established concert location Ciudad de Rock of Arganda del Rey.
After expanding to two weekend’s in 2022, the original Primavera Sound in Barcelona will return to its usual format in 2023, when it is scheduled for  June 1-3 at the  Parc del Fòrum – one weekend prior to the new Madrid edition.
In both cities, promoters will offer a mid-week program called Primavera a la Ciutat to foster the festival’s identity as an urban event. “This program will be integrated into the cultural spaces of each venue with different musical activities before the main days,” the announcement of Primavera Sound Madrid reads.

It’s not the first foray for Primavera Sound into the Spanish capital. The Primavera Club concert series used to take place in both cities each autumn as well. Now, the fully fledged main event is making Madrid an annual home.

Promoters thanked the Community of Madrid, the Town Hall of Madrid and the Town Hall of Arganda del Rey for “the ease and enthusiasm with which they have been and are working with us to make this edition, which we are so excited about, a reality in 2023.”
Primavera Sound Barcelona 2022 boasts a massive lineup. Massive Attack, Pavement, Tame Impala, Beck, The National, The Strokes, Gorillaz, Jorja Smith, Nick Cave & the Bad Seed, Tyler, the Creator, Lorde, Megan Thee Stallion, Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Most of them will be performing at Parc del Fòrum on both weekends, or during Primavera a la Ciutat across indoor venues in the city of Barcelona.
