The previous record was held by Metallica, who set attendance records at arenas across Europe in 2017/2018, with the in-the-round stage used for the band’s “WorldWired” tour.
According to Pollstar’s box office, Metallica sold 17,267 tickets on the second of two concerts, Feb. 3-5, 2018. Both shows grossed a total of $3,686,603.
Maluma surpassed this record yesterday (17,412 tickets sold) at the second Spanish concert of his “Papi Juancho Europe Tour 2022,” following a sold-out show at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, March 31. The Latin superstar is also using a 360-degree stage placed in the center of each arena “Papi Juancho” visits.
Maluma’s next Spanish performance will be at Ciutat Festival in Valencia, July 7.
