Influential sludge metal trio the Melvins are heading out on their first headlining tour since 2019 with “The Electric Roach Tour” kicking off in June, with dates from coast to coast before returning back to California in late July.
The band, led by King Buzzo and longtime drummer Dale Crover, are currently wrapping a tour with industrial metal legends Ministry.

“It’s nice to be able to tour!! We were wondering if it would even be possible again,” Buzz “King Buzzo” Osborne says in the announcement. “It’s been years since we played these places. The amazing Ministry tour was a warmup for this!”

The tour includes stops at Pappy & Harriett’s in Pioneertown, Calif., One Eyed Jack’s in New Orleans, Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, N.C., The Broadberry in Richmond, Va., along with dates in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oregon.

In early 2021, the self-managed and always independently minded Osbourne told Pollstar he didn’t see it being possible to tour, which the band does regularly, until 2022. However, the band is and has always been in it for the long haul.

“Believe me, I know exactly what we’re capable of doing in any market in the U.S. if there’s something unrealistic, in my experience it will remain unrealistic,” he said at the time. “If you go out there and do unrealistic stuff and go for the short money, eventually people won’t believe in you again. What I want is long-standing relationships with clubs and promoters that go on for decades. So there’s places like the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga, we’ve literally been playing shows there since 1989, with the same people. That’s what i want. I don’t want to play one show for a bunch of money, I want to play 15-30 shows.

Tickets for the six-week tour are on sale now. Helms Alee and Harsh Mellow open on all dates.
