P&G And iHeartMedia ‘Can’t Cancel Pride 2022’ Announces Lineup With Elton John, Lizzo & More

Elton John, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Lizzo, Anitta and more have been announced as performers for P&G and iHeart Media’s “Can’t Cancel Pride 2022: Proud AND Together,” which will be hosted by JoJo Sia on June 14.

“As we’ve proven of the past two years, you ‘Can’t Cancel Pride,'” iHeartMedia Chief Marketing Officer, Gayle Troberman, said in a statement. “Even with a global pandemic raging, we’ve been able to bring the community together with the most influential artists to celebrate Pride and raise consciousness and funds for some heroic organizations while working to support the needs of the LGBTQ+ community in communities around the nation. This year is a big moment as we emerge from lockdown to celebrate diversity and inclusion while continuing to champion the LGBTQ organizations that create a more equal and welcoming world for all.”

This year will see Elton John being honored with the event’s first-ever Impact Award for his humanitarian work with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which the singer first began 30 years ago. Siwa will also be receiving a special honor at the event for being a young trailblazer within the LGBTQ+ community.

John has been busy with his tour, “Farewell Yellow Brick Road.” Recent highlights from his trek have included sold out performances at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. and KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. His Tampa performance sold 14,774 tickets, grossing $2.21 million according to Pollstar boxoffice reports, while Louisville sold 17,496 tickets and grossed $2.22 million.

Siwa has also been touring recently, with her own show at Amalie Arena in Tampa selling 8,808 tickets and grossing $453,658. Her performance at Rupp Arena in KLexington, Ky. sold 8,677 tickets and grossed $496,770.

Funds raised from the event will be donated towards GLAAD, SAGE, The Trevor Project, the National Black Justice Coalition, CenterLink, and OutRight Action. Over the past two years that “Can’t Cancel Pride” has taken place, the event has managed to raise more than $8.3 million.

“Can’t Cancel Pride” will be available for streaming on June 14 at 8p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on iHeartRadio’s TikTok, YouTube and Facebook pages. Fans can also listen to the stream on PrideRadio.com and Revry. The one-hour benefit sees P&G and iHeartMedia joining together to promote the show, which will also be made on demand for fans until June 30.
