Sundowner Wins Top Gong In Managers Awards

Simone Ubaldi and Andrew Parisi of Sundowner took out manager of the year at the inaugural manager awards in Melbourne May 3 by the Association of Artist Managers (AAM).

Sundowner had global success with Amyl And The Sniffers, whose sellout U.S. tour included a Coachella 2022 slot, and Grace Cummings, who is repped by Supersonic (Aus), ATC Live (Europe) and Arrival Artists (U.S.).

Other winners were Ellen Kirk of Look Out Kid (breakthrough), Correne Wilkie of The Cat Empire (legacy) and Catherine Haridy Management (community engagement).
The AAM is leading its export market program Music Passport to New York (June 12-19) and Los Angeles (June 19-25) for two early-mid career managers to create pathways and build networks in the North American market.

Wellington’s St James Theatre To Reopen

After a three-year reconstruction to strengthen it from earthquakes, Wellington’s St James Theatre re-opens in late June.

Aside from raising it to a 67% rate of the New Building Standard from 15% – 20%, the revamp of the 1912 building included new theatre rigging systems, audio-visual equipment air-conditioning and heating.

Completion was delayed by lockdowns, ongoing construction staff shortages of up to 80%, and shipping of materials due to COVID-19.

The theater is managed and booked by WellingtonNZ.
