Gorillaz Announce North American Tour For Fall
Gorillaz will be returning to North America for the first time since 2018 this fall along with EARTHGANG and Jungle.
Kicking off on Sept. 11 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, Gorillaz’s upcoming tour will see Damon Albarn and the 14-piece band making stops at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, San Francisco’s Chase Center, The Kia Forum in Los Angels, Denver’s Ball Arena, Moody Center in Austin, TD Center in Chicago, Boston’s TD Garden, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, and more before wrapping up at FTX Arena in Miami.
EARTHGANG will be joining from Sept. 11 in Vancouver through Oct. 19 in Atlanta. Jungle will then be playing support for the final two dates, Oct. 21 and 23 in Orlando and Miami.
Last month, Damon Albarn joined Billie Eilish onstage during her Coachella Weekend One performance, where the two sang her single “Getting Older” from Happier Than Ever and Gorillaz’s 2005 hit single, “Feel Good Inc.”
Gorillaz sold 17,428 tickets and grossed $1.3 million for their Aug. 11, 2021 performance at The O2 in London. The last time they performed in North America, they sold 11,399 tickets at Brookyn’s Barclays Center, grossing $1.18 million.
In 2020, Gorillaz released their seventh studio album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez. Each track was released as a music-based web series with episodes containing standalone singles and accompanying music guests. The collaboration-filled record saw different “guests” appearing throughout each release.
Song Machine had seen tracks with Beck, ScHoolboy Q, St. Vincent, Elton John and 6LACK, slowthai, JPEGMAFIA and CHAI, and more.
Albarn hinted in September that Gorillaz’s next record would be filled with Latin influences after sharing that he and Bad Bunny had recorded a song in Jamaica. Albarn teased that the band’s new album would be released sometime in 2022.
In the midst of their North American trek, Gorillaz will also be appearing at Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas, which takes place from Sept. 16–18.
More information regarding Gorillaz‘s upcoming dates will be made available in the coming weeks.
